By agreement with Panama the American Battle Monuments Commission owns and runs the 17-acre Corozal American Cemetery. Other parts of the old Canal Zone cemetery at Corozal are run by the Panama City municipal government, according to the rules of a culture with very different attitudes about the sanctity of graves

      Panama's veterans of US military service come in both genders and all colors

At the end of 1999 the Boy Scouts of America closed up shop in Panama, but later, under the understanding with Panama's scouts that it would only accept boys who are US citizens, a new Boy Scouts of America troop was organized. The scouts played an important role in this year's Veterans Day ceremony
