American Society picnics at the US Ambassador's Residence

photos by John Beavers

On January 27 the American Society of Panama held its annual dry season picnic at the usual place, the US Ambassador's Residence on La Cresta.

With the growth and changes in Panama's American community, the American Society is also evolving. Its leaders are ever more dedicated to charitable works in Panama and its members seem to be increasingly more interested in fellowship with other Americans and less in the business advantages of getting their photos taken with the ambassador. But the society still attracts most kinds of Americans as well as a number of Panamanians and third country nationals who are part of the American community by marriage or affinity.
