Ad cartel backs an embattled friend
Well who reads that?
Pauta magazine --- voice of about a dozen ad agencies that are part of the cartel that the president's father-in-law Tony Fergo founded --- can occasionally be found in a dentist's office waiting room, and it's distributed to those media aligned with the ad cartel (not The Panama News), but you don't find it on very many news stands and hardly anyone outside of a small industry sector reads it.
So why does Pauta advertise at bus stops and in posters along Avenida Balboa?
It's an exercise in buttering up customers and rewarding old political allies. In this instance, the feted one is embattled HSBC bank exec Joseph Salterio.
