Dear Dr. Mutt,

I’ve been forced to share my quarters with a silly little canine, that hasn’t learned to appreciate the beauty of silence and the serenity of sleep. It has no pride. It yaps for anything and everything. I’m normally a tolerant tabby, but my patience is wearing thin. I may swat him one in the chops if he barks one more time while I’m trying to rest or tries to lick my face.

Dear Strained,

Ah, the joys of being different! A feline is cautious, tranquil and moves with stealth, whereas a canine’s metabolism can spike at the sound of a car horn or a whistle, but they’re loyal and good-hearted. This little guy’s not malicious, just exuberant. Obviously he wants to be your friend, so don’t hurt him. Sit on your paws and try to enjoy the spectacle.
