No unusual spikes, but our biggest-ever May readership
In April an old story of ours was highlighted on Earth Day by an environmentalist publication and we received an extraordinary (for us) 10,000 visits that day. Nothing unusual like that happened in May, but if you exclude that one day from April's averages we still continued a regular readership growth in May.
(One thing about May that we have realized from our email over the years is that it's a month when a lot of schoolkids who have no particular ties to Panama visit this website to look up information while doing reports for geography or other classes. Though this is a regular phenomenon, these youngsters probably can't be counted as "regular readers.")
Usually readership slows down a bit in June, July and August. In that sense our readership patterns are much like North American television watching habits.
We are changing servers, which has taken the website down for a few days in June, which should lower our totals for this month more than the usual. It will also give us our readership information in a different format than that to which we have become accustomed, causing us to make decisions about how to present it to you. Still, The Panama News is going to periodically report our download statistics as we receive them because it's a bit of candor that we owe to our advertisers.
Oh, and is there somebody who tells you that his mainly pirated news website from and about Panama is "number one?" Just do an English-language Google search with the key word "Panama" and see where The Panama News comes up and where that publication comes up, or do a similar Yahoo! search.
