Whatever you think of the international political organization, they have a cool art museum and they put part of its collection of contemporary works by artists from around the hemisphere on the Internet. One of the exhibitions in this online gallery is by Panamanian photographer Iraida Icaza. (She does "abstract" photography, for example manipulating images by techniques like printing them on vellum or playing with the contrast.)

VHeadline, Venezuela’s independent English-language news website, fell upon hard times in a squeeze between an opposition ad boycott and a top government official’s annoyance with some critical articles they published. Ah, but although they lost their old domain and their vast archives, VHeadline survives. And despite all the fuss, the RCTV station that lost its lease on the frequencies it was using also lives, at http://www.rctv.net/ --- you can watch its programs on the net, and soon enough probably on cable as well. The TVes channel that got RCTV’s old channel 2 is apparently not yet online.
