Jesus Lizard on a Banana Channel

This mural, in acrylic paint on stretched canvas by Mark Nelson, has been installed in the new American Embassy building in Clayton.

Nelson lived for 20 years in Panama, growing up in the Canal Zone, attending the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas and the University of Panama and then continuing his studies with a bachelor's degree at the Art Institute of Chicago and a master's at the University of Illinois Chicago campus. He lives and works in Chicago and was contacted by the US State Department's Art in Embassies Program, which bought the painting. Nelson then came down to Panama to install the work and then spend several weeks getting reacquainted with the country.

If you like this work and might want to buy some of Nelson's other art, visit his website or contact him by email at artmaze@gmail.com.
