A Wood Nymph in my Bathtub

There's a wood nymph in my bathtub

and I wonder why she's there.

She didn't ask the cat,

who was sitting on a chair.

She dressed the German Shepherd

with dreadlocks in its hair,

then she shook her leaves in laughter

with phantasmagoric flair.

She swished and splashed forever,

using all my favorite soap.

Her willow-wanding whimseys

had an anatomic scope.

I melted when I saw her smile

and handed her a towel,

and when I saw her foliage

I hoped she took a while.

Smiles of Succor

like a deceived humming bird

petered out by desperate trying

wadded up as gum that has been over chewed

I draw up my knees

in last defense

a quaked and helpless child

nested in the archtypal smiles of succor.

Matthew's Legacy

I think of Matthew Shepherd attacked and abused-

the cold wind muffling sounds of fright and pain,

a steady torrent of blows inflicted

in front of God and nobody,

the young man strung up like a coyote,

a life slipping away that had burned so bright

and the puffed up killers returning to wash their hands;

but God must have told somebody

because the truth was outed,

not just to gay men and women but to everybody

and millions came to make things right.
