Litterati

Dear Dr. Mutt,

I am so perturbed! The mistress adopted a baby canine and put me in charge of caring for it. This is so not to my liking! My routine is destroyed and my life has become chaotic. I wasn’t meant to be a mom, much less to a canine! He follows me everywhere and imitates everything I do. He even meows, but now he wants to use my litter box! OUT OF THE QUESTION! There are some places a dog does not go! How do I tell him without hurting his feelings?

Boxed-in in Bethesda

Dear Boxed-in,

I’m not sure, but it would seem that your little canine friend has identity problems, and his situation is delicate. He obviously loves you and thinks you are his mom, so why don’t you give the little guy a break. You wouldn’t want him to have an “accident” and be punished for something out of his control. Be magnanimous and share your litter box.
