Panama Democrats,

It won't be an official meeting, but let's meet at Mi Ranchito on the Amador Causeway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday January 8 to watch the returns from New Hampshire and see how our candidates are doing.

Best New Year wishes,
Dick Koster

US Democrats in Panama prepare for primary

In February 2008 millions of Americans who live outside the United States will be able to vote to choose the Democratic nominee for President in a global primary.

The primary will be held during the week of February 5-12 under the sponsorship of Democrats Abroad. The results will determine the apportionment of Democrats Abroad’s 11 votes at the Democratic National Convention.

To take part in Panama one must be a US citizen who will be over the age of 18 on Election Day (November 4, 2008), resides temporarily or permanently in Panama, not vote in any other primary, and be a member of Democrats Abroad Panama, the local affiliate of Democrats Abroad worldwide. Membership is free and may be acquired by sending one’s name, Panama street address, e-mail address, and phone number to <democrats.abroad.panama@gmail.com>.

Those qualified may vote in person at the Democrats Abroad Panama voting center at the Elks’ Club in Balboa from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on February 12, 2008. One may join Democrats Abroad Panama at that time by showing a US passport.

One may also vote by mail, fax or Internet. To do so, however, one be a Democrats Abroad Panama member by January 31, 2008 and advise Democrats Abroad Panama by the same date that one wishes to vote in this manner.

Democrats Abroad Panama will hold its first meeting of 2008 at 6:30 p.m. on February 12 at the Elks’ Club in Balboa. The principle item on the agenda will be the election of officers for 2008-2010.
