This little guayacan tree is, despite the partial shade and all the car exhaust fumes, thriving on Avenida Balboa. The towers that are going up in Panama City's construction boom are creating shadows and blocking winds, and this will inevitably change the mixes and locations of tree species that the city can plant and maintain along its streets.
