be
contests for the best-flown purchased kites and the best home-made
kites,
with trophies for the former and prizes for the latter.
This is one of Panama's principal annual expressions of Chinese culture, althought in the past the non-Chinese participation in these festivals has been massive. Being an event organized by the Chinese community, however, there is a family orientation with lots of activities for the younger kids. Wouldn't you expect cold stuff to drink to be available on a sunny and windy afternoon on the Amador Causeway? That and food will be on sale in the parking lot --- kites and string, too. It's in a largely open field, but will YOU be able to get your kite way up there, over the Panama Canal?
