A makeover for Bocas Town's urban park

Bocas Town's Parque Bolivar  is fading and crumbling, and when it rains the areas where there is or there is supposed to be grass become waterlogged, limiting the park's use. With help from Six Diamond Resorts International, the park is getting a makeover, which was inaugurated in an April 15 ceremony.


The infrastructure has been untended for some time


The plan is to leave the trees where they are but replace much of the grassy area and the present concrete with compressed crushed rock in various colors. The new material will drain quickly, making the park more usable during the long Bocas rainy season

One of the purposes of an urban park is to preserve a community's history...




...and the present Parque Bolivar gets mixed reviews on how well it does this
