Martín and Raúl

On April 30 Martin Torrijos flew to Havana, where he and Cuban President Raul Castro discussed energy policies and Cuban medical missions to this country. Torrijos also attended the dedication of a monument to his late father, General Omar Torrijos, spoke by phone with the ailing former leader of Cuba, Fidel Castro, and met with Panamanians studying at Cuban universities. Vice President and Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro went to Cuba with Torrijos and signed a renewable energy and technology agreement with his Cuban counterpart and met with a number of African and Eastern European diplomats who handle their countries' relations with Panama through their embassies in Cuba.
