A lapse in his presence, but no oil price break

President Torrijos, the purveyor of urban policies designed around more streets designed to be congested by more cars of people driving to and from work, didn't get a break on the price of oil from Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, with whom he is shown here at the palace in Doha. He also didn't lower our energy prices at his meeting the next day with General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi either. In fact, the people of Panama had to pay for the junket.

But then, we didn't have to listen to Torrijos for a few days.

Upon his return from his visit to the Middle East and Switzerland, Torrijos resumed where he left off, carefully shielding himself from real questions by serious journalists and issuing a dutifully reported blast about how opposition politicians never meet with the poor.
