we had the Orquesta
Sinfonica Nacional playing in the Teatro Nacional to kick off a major
music festival that featured many genres and half a dozen stages around
the
Casco Viejo. That event was designed to bring in the crowds from near
and far, and though the music was great and by attendance figures it
was a big success, the ambience struck some of the people from the
neighborhood as a bit "touristy." Others in the area thrive on
tourism and would like to see more of the same.
 Above, Los Desbandados played in
Parque Bolivar, a little performance that drew no huge crowds but was a
sign of the popular Casco Viejo arts scene.
