Corozal Industrial Zone

The industrial processing zones strategy adopted for parts of the former Canal Zone during the Pérez Balladares administration has mostly been a failure, if one looks at it from the point of view of the establishment of new industries. However, from the perspective that looks at the conversion of certain facilities that the departing US Department of Defense left behind to civilian uses there have been a few industrial zone success stories. One of these is here in the Corozal Industrial Zone, where there is some food processing and Frigorifico has become a cold storage and warehousing facility that serves major supermarket chains.
