Hound Dogs

Dear Dr. Mutt,

My master and I go for a stroll around the neighborhood every day. He does it for the exercise, and I get to go along as protection. We were on one of our routine walks when we rounded the corner, and lo and behold, we came up smack dab into five sets of long legs, longer ears and even bigger noses. What a sight! And what a racket! I tried to strike up a friendly conversation with one of them through the fence, but the others howled and barked so loud I thought I was in a wind tunnel and now I can’t hear a thing. Can I sue them for damages?

Dear Deaf,

I guess you could, but why do that? Hounds are an exuberant bunch. They were either jealous that you were talking to only one of them and wanted in on the conversation, or maybe they were just lonely and happy to see another one of their kind. Next time just wear ear muffs.
