Juan Jované for president, if...
It's a mighty big "if." Jované, a former Seguro Social director and a University of Panama ecnomist, has been nominated by the Popular Alternative Party (PAP) as its presidential candidate and he says he's disposed to accept the nomination. The problem is that PAP does not have ballot status and is a long way from getting enough petition signatures to get on the ballot for next May's elections. Jované says that whatever the case, his candidacy will demonstrate just how democratic Panama is or is not. Also in
