Bomberos party

Yes, Panama's firefighters --- the bomberos --- have the nation's coolest marching bands and this musical tradition that goes with it, so wouldn't you expect that the holidays would be celebrated with music and dancing down at the firehouse.

The bomberos were quite concerned, however, lest it was made to appear that the neighborhood was left unprotected while they celebrated. That was not the case. The dispatcher was at his post at all times, and those who were on duty were in their usual work uniforms, ready to respond to an emergency on a moment's notice. In fact, if it was a really serious call, a bunch of the off-duty bomberos just happened to be at the station.

In any case, catastrophe did not visit on this particular afternoon.
