Special Panama Jazz Festival edition

Cool Internet Sites

Without much further ado, let's get into some of the sounds that some of the people who are going to be playing at the Sixth Panama Jazz Festival have made, so that you know where they're coming from:

Billy Drummond --- N.O. Stomp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PVQ9DWnVzs

Chucho Valdés --- Tamara Blues
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLXwoEcFUCU

Luba Mason --- All That Jazz
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6dKwpRlRPw

Milagros Blades with the Tia Fuller Quartet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmwlQ2Y7Iow

Several years ago Milagros Blades, a precocious 10-year-old, came to one of the Jazz Festival's workshops and pounded those in attendance into submission with her percussive talents on the tambor. They quickly worked out a way to put her onstage, and she has performed at the subsequent festivals. Here she plays at last year's festival with the Tia Fuller Quartet (part of which is part of Beyonce's band) and its astounding drummer Kim Thompson.

Wayne Shorter --- Adam's Apple
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK5YEACfB6Q

As a Grammy winner, Danilo Pérez has more often than not earned his recognition as a part Wayne Shorter's band --- saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pianist Danilo Perez, bassman John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade. This time, for a change, Panama Jazz Festival crowds will get to see and hear Danilo in that context.
