muñecos start to pop up

The muneco is an effigy symbolizing some person or phenomenon of the outgoing year that's displayed by the side of the road and burned on a New Year's party bonfire. It's a custom from the Interior, which is particularly strong in the Chame - San Carlos area of Panama Oeste.


Ricardo Martinelli, who has come out of nowhere to be the 2009 presidential front runner, will surely be burned in effigy at more than one New Year's party


As will a certain chola, maybe not this one


Labor, as well as politicians and business elites, is generally represented
