A Christmas call from the US Navy

The USS Swift goes like a bat out of hell, so it is said. Just how fast it will go has not been disclosed for the benefit of potential enemies, but it can cruise at 63 kilometers per hour and reportedly maintained a speed of 83 kilometers an hour for four hours during sea trails. Dubbed a "twin hulled catamaran," the Swift's said to be quite maneuverable. Again, just how shallow a draft in which it can operate is unpublished. The ship is useful as a high-speed transport and for minesweeping operations, and is being studied as a prototype for a new generation of warships.

On this recent call in Panama, the USS Swift transported a cargo of toys for needy Panamanian kids, just in time for Christmas.
