Lessons in Assertiveness

Canine IQ

Dear Doctor Mutt,

Just wondering –-- humans talk all the time about how smart their dogs are, but I think it’s a myth. The canine that lives with me can’t be that smart because when the master opens the door, he races for the trough and gobbles up whatever he finds in his plate. What is his problem? I get gourmet feline cuisine. Shouldn’t he hold out for something better?

Disturbed in Destrehan

Dear Disturbed,

We canines have an easy palate. We are so exuberant and get so hungry that we accept most anything that is offered to us, especially if it is edible. But thanks for the concern.
