So you might as well enjoy it Lessons in Assertiveness by Sparky, the Wonder Dog, a/k/a Dr. Sparkus T. Mutt edited by P.V. Alvarado Prairie Dog Dear Doctor Mutt, I live with my mom and my brothers and sisters on a big ranch. I’m the smallest, but I can run fast. Sometimes I run so fast that I don’t watch where I’m going, and the other day I fell in a hole. It was dark and deep, but I clawed my way out. When I reached the top, the master said, “Hey, look at that prairie dog!” And everybody laughed. Why? I don’t understand. Riled in el rancho
Dear Riled, A prairie dog is not really a dog. It’s a groundhog, and believe it or not, it’s not even a hog. In fact, it’s not a dog or a hog. It’s a woodchuck, like a squirrel. They’re not very big and burrow into the ground, and there is a legend that claims they can predict how long winter will last. I think your master was just having a good “chuckle” over your underground adventure. Don’t take offense. Sparky
