Ocean-to-Ocean
Cayuco Race 2009

People wondered whether this event, started nearly six decades ago by the Canal Zone Council of the Boy Scouts of America, would survive first the formal end of the Canal Zone in 1979, then the final reversion of the Panama Canal to Panama at the end of 1999. Now there are those who complain that the internationally famous event has become too big to properly manage.

This year's winners, in addition to Misconception and Chava, were the open mixed boat Bugaba, the open female Diablo, the mixed juvenile Almost and the female juvenile Mischief, by order in which they finished.
