Quote Acrostic Instructions:

Begin by filling in the answers to as many clues in the clue list on the bottom as you can. Then transfer each letter of those answers to the corresponding numbered square in the grid on top. When all the letters are filled in on the top grid, they will spell out a quote from a book. The first letter of each of the solutions in the clue list, reading vertically, will spell out the name of the author and the title of the book from which the quotation is taken.

As the forms of words begin to appear in the diagram, work from top to bottom and from bottom to top --- between the clue list and the grid. For example, imagine that after transferring the letters from the clues you solved on the bottom to the grid on the top you’ve filled in a “t” and an “h” as the first two letters of a three letter word in the grid. It’s reasonable to assume that the last letter is an “e”. Each box in the grid includes a number and a letter. If the number and letter in the box where the “e” goes were 42 and L, you would look at clue L, find a space with the number 42 in it, and put an “e” there, which might help you solve clue L.

Note that words in the top grid may start near the end of a line and continue onto the next line. A word ends only when there’s a black square.

Good luck!
