Panama stayed respectable in the world track and field championships in
Berlin, but not exactly as expected.
Defending world and Olympic champion long jumper Irving Saladino? He fouled out in the semi-final round and didn't win any medals. However, in the 200-meter dash Alonso Edward, who's from Colon, finished in second place behind a world record breaking performance by Jamaica's Usain Bolt. It wasn't particularly close, with Edward .62 seconds behind. However, Edward is only 19 years old and it is expected that he will improve.
