The annual Caravana de Asistencia Social is a benefit put on by the international and ethnic communities of Panama to lend a hand to various charities. It's mostly an excellent array of ethnic foods and beverages, but there are also other things for sale and cultural presentations.

It started out in the time when almost all diplomats were male, as a benefit to raise money to brighten up the lives of needy kids with Christmas presents. Since then the event has expanded to include a number of non-Christian nations and its support has been extended to charities that have nothing to do with religious holidays; and you have husbands of female diplomats and expatriates with no relationship to their countries' embassies or consulates doing a lot of the work.

It's a great time and very difficult for any one journalist to review, as there are far more offerings than one can possibly eat or drink.
