Dropped out of sight, rumored to have left Panama, but LinkedIn suggests otherwise
Where did Mark Boswell alias Rex Freeman go?
by Eric Jackson

Soon after the change of governments here in Panama, this reporter began to receive queries and gossip about Mark Boswell alias Rex Freeman. Continental Trust & Credit Union, the illegal unlicensed banking scam he had been running from Panama with the knowledge of the Torrijos administration, http://ctcuef.com/system/login.php, seems to have gone underground. Since this past June its website has been downgraded to essentially an online mail drop. No longer do we see promotions for Rex Freeman's offshore conferences. His InterGlobal Finance SA website is down. People in Costa Rica who claim to have been swindled say that Boswell has dropped out of sight and they have heard that he's left Panama, and that is estranged wife was trying to negotiate some sort of settlement that would allow her (but not him) to return to Costa Rica without facing legal troubles. People in the United States who claim to have been swindled out of money that they put into Continental Trust say that Freeman told them that in the breakup of his marriage the wife either froze or took the company's assets and that's why they can't withdraw their money.

Meanwhile, however, since going underground "Rex Freeman" has still, by his attorneys, been appealing this reporter's acquittal on criminal defamation charges. And on the face of it, he might be said to have gained an advantage when his lawyer, one Alejandro Moncada Luna, who went front of a judge and claimed that The Panama News report about his client's criminal record in Colorado was a lie --- despite his client's published admissions --- was raised by Ricardo Martinelli from the status of disreputable private prosecutor to Supreme Court magistrate. At the very least, Martinelli himself has assured that there will be no investigation of how this convicted felon was granted residency in Panama, nor will there be any investigation of the fraudulent online gambling operations that Mark Boswell alias Rex Freeman ran out of Panama.

4sportspicks downgraded from D- to F+ 10/14/2004 04:58 PM

SBR Scam Alert: Gold Palace (SBR rating F-) - who has scammed many large players has reopened under WinBig.Biz (SBR rating F-). The owner goes by the name of Rex Freeman who has many online ventures. It is likely this scam operation will resume soliciting large bettors by phone. WinBig has obtained the services of Capilleira, who is the parent company of 4sportspicks com (SBR rating D-).

With people all over the world screaming for their money, with online gambling itself a crime in the United States and for that and other reasons Boswell being vulnerable to arrest if he goes back there, with his old congregation depopulated and disillusioned, with a Costa Rican warrant for his arrest, it might be most prudent for Boswell alias Freeman to stay here and enjoy President Martinelli's protection. And lo and behold, we get a scent of a trail, right here in Panama, by way of a LinkedIn entry:

Rex Freeman
Owner, Strategic Capital Services, Ltd.
Panama

Well, THAT's interesting. Looking up Strategic Capital Services, Ltd. online, they list offices here and there, but none in Panama. So I made an email inquiry to, and got a prompt response from, Strategic Capital's CEO:

Dear Mr. McNaughten,

Does your company operate out of Panama? Does it have any business relationship with Mark Boswell, who also calls himself Rex Freeman, or with his Continental Trust & Credit Union?

See, e.g., http://www.linkedin.com/pub/rex-freeman/12/5a2/717

Eric

My company is Hong Kong based and was previously based in London. It has nothing to do with Mark Boswell or Rex Freeman or Continental Trust & Credit Union.

Regards

Strategic Capital Services Limited,
Units 3401-2,
34th Floor, AIA Tower,
183 Electric Road,
North Point
Hong Kong

If what is suggested is taken at face value, it would not be the first time that a scam artist in Panama has pirated the name of another company somewhere else. But we should also realize that when Mr. Boswell was running his online gambling operation out of Panama, he was not actually in this country --- he was living in Costa Rica at the time.

Meanwhile, President Martinelli wants to get the US-Panama Free Trade Agreement passed, and he's getting a lot of opposition in the US Congress because Panama's financial practices, which encourage international crime and cost the US tax collectors a substantial sum every year. On January 4 Martinelli met with a delegation of congressional Democrats, including Eliot Angel (New York), Lynn Woolsey (California), Shelley Berkley (Nevada) and Pedro Pierluisi, the non-voting delegate from Puerto Rico. It's very unlikely that the subject of Mark Boswell alias Rex Freeman came up at their meeting.
