Ash Wednesday, but in several places around Panama, the following
weekend features "Carnavalito" parties. On the Atlantic side, the
culture is less Catholic and thus partying during Lent seems not so out
of place in Colon. In Cocle province, the only place they allow Carnival
celebrations is in Penonome, so in smaller towns like La Pintada they
have Carnavalito.
