Fox-hole Freddy
Dear
Doctor Mutt,
I
was trained by the best of the military, but I retired to civilian life
last week, and it has been quite an adjustment. Last night the sky lit
up and exploded several times. I quickly dug a hole to protect myself
from flying debris and waited for the attack, but it never came. But
this morning my new master came outside and yelled some things at me
that no Sergeant would take lying down. So I growled at him, then he
pointed at my fox-hole and yelled some more. Then he grabbed a shovel
and filled it in. What a weirdo! What is it with these civilians? Where
are their brains? Don’t they know the dangers? Heck, if the sky
explodes again, I’m digging in.
Prepared in Panama City
Dear Prepared,
Humans
are oblivious to noise, the louder the better and their celebrations
tend to be on the explosive side. They use fireworks, which are similar
to weapon fire, but not meant to do battle, but it’s just as loud and
just as scary. Your reaction was spot on and natural for any canine,
military or civilian. Stay safe.
