Lagartijas and a handful of actors and activists marched from their
studio
along the Avenida Central Peatonal in a simple but powerful action that
addressed
the recent political unrest in Panama. During
their teatro
callejero, they chanted: "¿Qué
gobierno me merezco? ¿Qué gobierno te mereces?
Dime qué gobierno te mereces."
Their
action was inspired by one member's chance encounter with a quote
attributed to
Alexis de Tocqueville: "In a Democracy, the people get the government
they
deserve." They represented the dead, the blinded, and the wounded,
asking
people to write on banners what type of government they thought that
they
deserved. All
told, it was an engaging and effective event, involving participants of
all
